when to take step 2ck for urology?

For those of you who are applying now/interviewing, when do you recommend to take STEP 2ck? What do the program directors say? Do they avoid candidates who haven't taken Step 2 already? I did decent on Step1 and would rather use that score....

Urologies' match is early... many/most people will not have step 2 scores during the process, and programs don't seem to expect it (that was my experience.) So, the advice I was given was if your step 1 score is where it needs to be then taking step 2 early is more likely to hurt you than help you. Obviously though, if you take and rock step 2 early that can help big time.

I certainly wouldn't take it unless you were confident you would do at least as well as step 1... ie, unless you had plenty of time to prep and were scoring well on practice tests.

It won't hurt you if you don't have it, IMO.
