When to take the boards?

I didn't see a post regarding timing of taking written/oral boards. I know in my residency programs, a lot of the fellows are taking the written boards in the spring. However, what are people thoughts on taking the boards the end of 3rd yr in residency. I figure I will be studying for the OKAP in March anyways. I did pretty well on my OKAP so I assume I will do okay on the written test. As for the oral, I will probably do Osler review.
Is this a good idea?
