Hey guys, I tried searching but I don't know of an efficient search topic to find the answer. I am currently attending UT Austin right now and am currently a Sophomore there and was wondering when I should be taking the DAT. Also, are there any suggested classes that I should take that would prepare me or anything. I am the first in my family to attend college and really am not that experienced or know much at all about the path to becoming a dentist/orthodontist. Thank you for your help.

There's a DAT sub forum where you can find a great deal of info if you do a little search.

I'd say take it whenever you are ready!

They offer the test almost everyday. Wait until you have completed all your o-chem... physiology would help too. Don't waste your money on the Kaplan course. Bye their study book and practice for the PAT until you cry.

May I ask what the PAT is? And thank you for the suggestion of not taking the Kaplan class. I thought the class seemed very expensive. I will now just rather buy their books. What I was wondering was when do people typically take their DAT and apply into schools. Do you take the DAT after your sophomore year, or during junior year of college? Thank you again for the information.
