When will AOA-protected residencies no longer be AOA protected?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is really only significantly advantageous for primary care residencies, right? Since most subspecialty/competitive residencies are majority MD?

Basically, what's in the title: When will AOA-protected residencies no longer be AOA-protected and thus, open to MD candidates for application?

Already. Programs with Initial Accreditation that are participating in the NRMP match are open to MD and DO Students. Word on the street is however, ACGME-converted DO programs still feel a sense of duty toward DO students. Programs still working on ACGME accreditation/still participating in the AOA/NMS match are still exclusive to DOs for the time being.
