When will interviews/rejections start comming?

For those of you who have already been through this excruciating situation, when do interviews/rejections begin? Especially for more competitive specialties (i.e. emergency medicine).

I heard programs pretty much just pretend you didn't apply and hope you don't call. Cynical, I know.

Hmmm...good question. Now that I think back I don't recall getting a stack of rejection letters/emails - I think I was just IGNORED!!

Not me -- I was deluged with rejections -- mostly in Nov/Dec. Then I'd write pathetic replies back like "Thanks for taking the time to consider my application. If more interview slots become available in the future, please do reconsider my application."

Oh yeah they come. In droves. Just kidding. I applied to 41 or 42 programs, got offered interviews at 20+, but about 10-15 rejections. SEVERAL programs left me flappin in the breeze without a nay-say. YOU HEAR ME UVA?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Hey Quinn - that's funny about UVA, because I think they rejected me twice! I guess I got your rejection as well as mine - hee hee!
