What hotel are are you guys staying at when you go interview at NYU? some of these hotel rates are no joke! 😱

shop around for a deal, im sure you can find one unless youre going in december. also consider staying someplay where you could take the LIRR, staten island ferry, or nj path if its about the greenbacks.

im gonna be staying at Sun Bright Hotel. its like 2 miles away from the school. Found it with hotwire.com along with my flights.

Hotel 17 on 17th st between 2nd and 3rd aves is usually reasonable. Shared bathrooms but clean rooms. My family stayed there for my graduation and were happy.

Back when I interviewed I stayed in Newark and took the New Jersey Transit in. Some shady areas out there -- be careful.

Good luck!

In addition to hotels, how are you guys getting around? Taxi?

Taxi's are fine or you can take the subway or just walk. It's a big city... but not really... unless you're trying to go from NYU to yankees stadium or something.

As for the hotel, if you don't mind a simple 5-10 minute train ride, then you should stay in Newark in the hotels by the prudential center. Its where the nets play and that little block of a neighboorhood is actually very nice... quite a contrast to the actual city that starts 100 feet to the west.

Anyone with an iphone, your google maps knows the train schedule and transfers. Good thing to have!

NYC Mate is an awesome app for the subway system, just download the map before hand and you've still have access to train schedule/ map while underground. It's pretty accurate. Haven't actually used the iOS version since I have an android phone, but the iOS version is supposed be the original version and better.

OK, cool. Sounds like I can save some money by using public transport 🙂 Thanks guys 👍

Thanks! I booked there and got the last $115 dollar room for that night! Yay

Glad you got one! Good luck with your interview. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Im staying at the W in times square

Had to cut the trip down from 4 nights to 2 because the rates are ridiculous!

I found an awesome deal on craigslist. I think it was under sublets/temp.

I paid ~$35/night for a big room with heating in a nice condo, but I searched really hard.

Here's the ad: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/sub/2592747431.html

It says minimum 5 nights or something like that. But just contact her tell her you're doing a dental school interview and she might be willing to cut you a break.

BTW, this is near columbia dental school, but I think it's 30 min to NYU area. It's right by the train station.

If you can't afford 3 nights in Manhattan, you can't afford 4 years in Manhattan.

That is all.

this may be true, but when the time comes to actually start school, it is called loans.

right now its called dads pocket, and i just meant the price racks up when you have other interviews to go to..

does anyone else have an interview on the 30th? I am debating on staying that Friday night so I can see the city but I don't want to go alone lol anyone else going to hang out there that night?

my interview is on the 30th too🙂

Yeah, I've read up on a lot. I printed out some publications, the class schedule, and some other materials to review on my way there. Totally not prepared to drive in at 5am though.

Im staying at the W in times square.. I hope this is not too too far from the dental school.

Does anyone know? Im not very familiar with New York
