For all those who started submitting secondaries in September and onwards, lets unite together and show the world that punctuality is for nubz!

No seriously, I think it would be cool for all of us late applicants to talk about II and what not :]

stats and complete dates gogo

By this time last year, I think I only had two or three secondaries submitted. Late applicants are at a disadvantage, but probably not nearly as bad as SDN makes it seem. But just to warn you, you might end up getting IIs well after January 1st, so don't feel too bad if it's been a while without hearing anything. The waiting game sucks :luck:

Glad to see we aren't all alone in this game. Started submitting in August, finishing up my last secondary this weekend.

Verified 9/5 and had all my secondaries in by 10/3. So far 1 rejection and 1 HOLD ( state school too!!) 🙁

MCAT 7/14 (same day as you nabilesmail), verified 9/17, in-state secondaries done same day or 9/18, complete at my in-state florida schools from 9/19-9/27 (was waiting on a LOR for a couple schools that the other schools didn't require), complete on some out of states early oct.

one II received today (after being complete there for a week), waiting on the rest.

37Q (12P, 12V, 13B)

3.43 cGPA (strong upward trend)

Good ECs, tons of research.

Damn man your mdapps is thorough! wow, go check it out guys...

and thanks for the reassurance!

A question for some of my fellow late applicants:

Can I start submitting my secondaries before some of my LORs are received by AMCAS, or is this frowned upon and seen as some sort of lack of preparedness?

Wow, that was fast! Congrats! Why do you guys think some people seem to "skip the line" while some have to wait their turn....

You can submit your secondaries if you've received them, the LORs will come when they come (hopefully soon) one of my LOR came after submitting my secondaries and once it came I was marked complete and it didn't hurt my app at all.

hey Barley congrats on your II so far!

For everyone wondering,

I applied 36ish schools, have done about 20 secondaries and was verified 9/14. I'll have the rest of my secondaries done by October 10th hopefully!

3.74 34 MCAT 13-9-12

1 on hold (from BU cause of letterhead) and 1 rejection from Mayo (pre-LOR)

I finished most of my MD applications in the first and second week of September and have an II from VCU. I finished my DO applications second and third week of September and have 3 II. I still have two secondaries that I have to do but have been too lazy to get around to...

Greetings! I was verified in early July but my MCAT score wasn't released until 8/28. All secondaries complete by early/mid September. 4.0 cGPA / 32R. The waiting game is killing me...

Hey! good luck on your apps, but how come you only applied to like 8 schools, not a good idea!

MCAT on September 6th, AMCAS primary submitted on the 12th, with only a handful of secondaries from schools that send them before verification. Yup...

Submitted 7/25. Transcript delay meant I only went "Under Review" for AMCAS on 8/2. Verified 9/9. Submitted primary to 30 schools, and have received secondaries from 27. Submitted 25 secondaries so far and have 9 invites.

While I was getting verified, was thisclose to withdrawing and waiting out until next cycle no fewer than 5 times (as in clicked the Withdraw button and checked the box on the "Are you sure?" page before walking away from my computer for a few minutes). Guess that would've been stupid...

Jesus Christ, you were complete in mid September and have 9 II? what are your stats?

Late applicant here! I wasn't verified until 9/25 and completed most of my secondaries but have a few more to go, and still need to hear back from a few more schools as well. Fingers crossed it isn't too long of a wait to here back and hopefully can get an acceptance this late in the game still.

Yea i'm thinking about adding more schools just to try and get a couple more II's.

Just spoke to a fellow classmate. Took his mcat in september. Got his score now. Did three secondaries, working on others. You're not alone guys!! Good luck to all of you!

P.S. it is STUNNING to see how vastly different the real premed world is from SDN. Most of the people I speak with never even heard of osteopathic schools before...and they are taking their sweet time with their applications.

Guess I'll report in. Didn't think late August and September was late so now I'm nervous. I also sat on Vandy's secondary for a month, whoops.

Thanks! Money has been a huge issue for me, hence the limited number of schools. I know it is very risky but I am taking my chances this cycle. Worst case scenario, I end up having to work an additional year before matriculation and save some money. Definitely not what I want, but it wouldn't be the absolute end of the world.

Checking in, anyone have new news?

I'm sitting on 2MD invites (instate), one "eligible for interview," and some crickets on the rest.

got verified 9/2 and have been very slow witht he secondaries. all the easy ones i did quickly, but im a terrible writer and am jsut finishing up my final few. And i got my first interview today!! YAY!!!

Congratulations!!! what is your gpa/mcat iof you dont mind me asking :] and when were you complete for that school/what school was it :]

Can you get FAP? a private loan? why waste a whole year when you have a competitive application, wouldn't you want to guarantee an admission?

I'll bite.

Late applicant due to 9/1/12 MCAT.

I'm applying to ~30 schools (low-mid tier MD. Couple reaches). Half done with secondaries, marked complete at 3/4 of them (I got a jump on some, so was complete shortly after my score hit the system). Still working on secondaries and hope to be finished "soon(tm)."

Obviously I haven't heard back from anyone yet--but I'm really hoping for some II's. The silence is deafening. I think if I can pull three (or more) interviews I have a shot. Anything less is a bit stressful.

Oregon resident, so my state school loves oos :-/

I am currently working on paying off my loans from undergrad, so taking an additional loan would not be ideal. I feel like adding more schools this late in the game might not be worth it. Like I said, hopefully it doesn't come to "wasting" a whole year and my state school will show me some love soon! I am still optimistic.

8 secondaries down 7 to go 🙂 1 II, 1 rejection

Verified Sept 19

eek

i do love my ii 😍

but if that dream gets crushed...

reporting in here... Actually had my primary verified on 7/16. Applied to 25 schools. Turned in more than half of the secondaries in July and August and the rest in September with the latest in late-sept.

Retook the MCAT in August and received MCAT score in mid-sept. So I am guessing my application wasn't complete until sometime after my MCAT score was released.

However, 3 out of 25 schools chose not to wait for my second MCAT score (improved from 31Q to 34Q) and rejected me. Another school rejected me end of sept which I expected b/c I am no in-state. so....so far no II's yet here...damn

Canadian student here. Applied to 6 schools.

Submitted my primary in first week of Sep. Was verified THIS week (Oct 10).

Received two secondaries as of now.

cGPA = 3.86
sGPA = 3.86
MCAT = 33 R (10/10/13)

ECs: 2 years of research, conference presentation, TA-ing, volunteering at hospital, shadowing, member and executive of some clubs, mentor, tutor, some awards.

So....what do my chances look like?

submit secondaries asap. its getting kinda late

3.9/3.95 35. Submitted secondaries starting 2nd week of Sept. Still in the thick of it thought. FML. No II (one rejects though....) FMLx2.

Texas resident. Submitted primary (for just 5 Texas schools- UTSW, UT-houston, TX A&M, UTMB, & TX-el paso), verified on 9/2- my MCAT score did not send until 9/24. Completed all secondary apps by 9/23.

One II (10/5) for UTSW on 10/27.

Haven't heard back from any other schools.

cGPA 4.0 MCAT 34Q

I applied last year with similar stats (33Q; 9 VR, 12 PS, 12 BS) and 3.8 undergrad GPA. I submitted my primary in early October (got verified October 31st) and didn't finish secondaries until late November, and I still got many interviews. So don't worry too much. You can get in somewhere--the only disadvantage is that you'll interview late. I interviewed at Dartmouth in late March and Penn State in early April. I attend Howard now and I'm very happy with my decision to attend here. Oh make sure you apply broadly.

I am international as well. I will be applying for my green card next year though. Good luck 👍

Fixed that for you. And it's an interesting one. This process really is more than just "stats."

I don't think so, story would give interviews but there is no way his applicastion was propelled to the top when he was complete in september, he must of had great stats to boost him pass earlier applications (when schools cherry pick for scores) and then had a great story

Did you apply to WVU? They have an extremely strong state preference.

I'm glad to see that there are more late applicants out there!

West Virginia resident here. My AMCAS was verified 8/29 and then my MCAT re-take score didn't come out until 10/9. I applied to 11 schools and received secondaries from 10 (still waiting on V Tech to screen my new MCAT score). So far, I only have a few fully submitted, but I plan to submit the others really soon. Late, late, late....I know. Hoping for a good surprise though!
