Where all ma late applicants at!?!?!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Haha thanks. Yes I am a VA resident. I'm hoping that helps. I spent a couple days on that essay just to make sure it turned out not too cocky.

@Cuongoff

Yes and Marshall University as well, which also loves WV residents. I've been tailoring their secondary essays for days, because I want them to be perfect.

Good luck on your interview with VCU! Are you a VA resident? I still have to finish that 8000 character essay on uniqueness for their secondary...that should be fun. lol

Can't wait for November. Either I get interview invites or I know that I've just got silently rejected 🙂

lol definitely waiting for the first Tuesday or Wednesday of November. It's the only time I know for sure that interviews are coming out (from MCW). And if I don't hear from them on one of those days, then I think a part of me is going to die inside.

You guys dont' have anything on me. Verified 10/4. Still doing secondaries.

WORD

They've just recently sent you the secondaries or you just taking your time filling them out?

I got a few when I submitted my application. I most of the rest the day I was verified. A few trickled in the following two weeks. I've done quite a few, but i'm taking my time really.

Hopefully, I didn't cut myself and now i'm just bleeding out.

Submitted primaries in July, but retook MCAT on Sept 1 (with Oct 2 release). Finished some secondaries before Oct 2 release and some after. I've got 2 interview invites so far (one DO, one OOS-Tx).

Yes, the "real world" is just a tad different than the SDN world of feeling the despair of being "too late."

thank god. or else i would be finished

So anyone still doing secondaries? Should I bother? Do I basically have no chance by now? I'm super busy, hard to find time to do it. Might just not bother with high tier schools

I don't know. I'm still doing them. I like to think that everyone has a fair chance.

Joining the party! I was AMCAS verified on 9/11 and finished the majority of my secondaries in the next two weeks. So far, only heard back bad news (2 rejections) or less than good news (didn't get rejected from UChicago! LoR request from Mayo!). Ready for some good good news!!

Complete at all but two of my schools. And now, the waiting begins...

You're not completely SOL but you will be in a very short amount of time. Some schools have already stopped accepting secondaries. My advice would be to just devote some length of time (like a day or so) that is just for writing and whatever you don't finish doesn't get turned in. Good luck!

Actually submitted my primary early June, but waited until I got back from a medical mission in Peru to start writing my secondaries because I thought I would have some good stuff to say. And then the next day I took Gen Chem II which lasted through August. I got some good stuff to write about from the mission, and I got an A in Chem (which it should've been, since it was a retake, albeit from 6 years ago), but the tradeoff was that I only submitting secondaries that required essays in late August/early September. Finally got my last MD secondary in today (Duke, with the 6 no-word-limit essays), and still have to get 6 DO's out too :lame:

2 II's so far though, 1 DO and 1 MD. Crossing my fingers that there are a lot of late non-SDNers this year.

I started completing secondaries on 9/26 and finished my last one on 10/9. So far I've got one MD interview! I applied to 14 schools total and the rest are still under review so I'm staying positive!

3 rejections, 1 hold, 0 II complete between 9/15 - 10/10

Scared now... all 3 rejections are from my mid tier universities, I doubt I have a chance at the top tier ones which means ill have tons of more rejections!

I used to think that applying late wouldn't be so bad, I'd just have to wait a bit longer to hear back from schools. However, now, as I see people get accepted left and right I'm starting to get real antsy...

Hey guys!
I'm new to this thread but figured I'd shoot in my stats.

3.74 cGPA, 3.74 sGPA, 31Q MCAT (10-11-10 PS/VR/BS).
My AMCAS was submitted 7/30 and I was verified 9/6.

My first secondary was submitted 8/1 and my last secondary was completed 10/16.

I have one pre-secondary rejection and I have heard nothing from anywhere else.

Here we go!:xf:

When did you submit most secondaries?

Submitted 9/10
Verified 10/11

Still working on secondaries but should be done with them by the end of this week.

Stats:
32P
3.8 GPA
NY resident
URM

I'm in a pretty bad position IMO. Submitted 9/20, processed 10/20 and I'm Canadian with average stats.

I'm looking at next cycle to be honest but I'll subscribe to this! Good luck to you all.

Question: what kind of additional information can I send to schools? Reasons to express my interest? Has it been shown that this helps to improve your chances or are you just spamming their mailbox?

Fellow Canadian here! Applied to 17 schools so far hoping to get an II and a shot somewhere. Which university are you currently at?

Anyone here applying to George Washington or Georgetown this late?

3.5/3.6 cGPA/sGPA
31Q

Applied to 25 schools. Most of my secondaries were turned in late September but I had a letter that didn't get turned in until two weeks ago.

So far I have one interview from an in state school and 1 pre-interview rejection. Complete at 15 and incomplete at 8.

Good luck everyone!

I applied to both but am not expecting much. Gf just got a rejection from Georgetown with much better stats and ECs and she was complete a month earlier 🙁

Can't wait for November. Either I get interview invites or I know that I've just got silently rejected 🙂

I feel stupid asking this, but why? Is November the last month schools send out interview invites?

New to this thread, hoping to see you guys all getting good news! I was verified 9/15 and submitted most of my secondaries that day but my MCAT score didn't come out until Oct 2nd. NY resident, 31S, 3.6 sGPA. So far I have 1 interview invite (for Jan, ugh) and got put on pre-interview hold at 1 school.

Submitted most of my secondaries the last week of sept, some in early oct. Already got two DO II's and one acceptance. No news from any MD schools yet. Not sure if my stats aren't high enough or if they just haven't reviewed it yet. (3.4, 34) 👎

Have been lurking in this thread...

Submitted primary in July, got most of my secondaries out in September and a few in the first week of October.

1 DO invite, silence from MD schools (and pending completion at Georgetown STILL 😡😡)

3.6, 28

I am also still getting the silent treatment. As a Starbucks barista for six years, I have to say that I love your username. Also, I am drinking a pumpkin spice latte at this moment. 🙂

Finally received the secondaries from the last three schools. Was sweating bullets because they screen pre-secondary and they'd already been handing out acceptances. Went on the first couple interviews, and while they were draining, it really was the least stressful part of the application process to this point. Weird, but true.

Why thank you, I was debating what to use for my SDN username and happened to have an iced coffee right next to me 😀
Oh wow 6 years! I see you're still not sick of it haha. Send some of that PSL over while we wait together! 😛

--edit--

Also, your mdapps link doesn't seem to be working?

hey everyone, cGPA3.9 sGPA3.9 MCAT30 verified 8/30/2012 applied to 16 schools. received 16 secondaries which were submitted between Sep4-Oct26. All of my applications are complete except 1. So far I interview, hoping for some more good news next few weeks.

Was one of those schools Vanderbilt? I applied mostly because they do screen (so worst case I'm out $34) and haven't heard anything back yet. I know they send out pre-secondary rejections via snail mail and I'm sure mine is on its way...just curious as to how far along they are (or if they're even still sending secondaries out) 😎

Also congrats on getting interviews! That's super exciting 🙂

I could never be sick of Starbucks! Caffeine definitely improves the waiting game. That's weird, the link seems to work for me!

II from CCOM! My first thus far 🙂 Interestingly, the invite came just two days after I added additional info to my secondary, as allowed by their online portal. Coincidence?

2 more invites this week 🙂 (2 MD, 2 DO total)...along with a rejection from Mayo😎

Haha, does it improve the waiting game or just make you more nervous? Fine line 😉

And now the link is working, that was odd.

What exactly are we considering a "late" application?

Received my first rejection today, from a "match" school. Complete early October.
