Where are the secondaries?

Once a school receives your primary application, do they email you the secondaries (whether they do the pre-screening or not) or are we supposed to find it ourselves? Do most schools use the same secondary prompts every year? I'm considering writing out all of the secondaries based on last year's prompts.

Yes, individual schools will email you secondaries either after they screen you or just get around to it. Some schools have them on their websites (University of Washington, for example). Only the questions are posted though, it's not the actual online submission form.

Many schools use the same or similar essays. A lot of people (SDN people anyway 😉) prewrite secondaries, but keep in mind they may change. If you have an idea of what your greatest challenge is, what makes you unique/diverse, and why you want to go to each of the schools you want to go to, you'll be able to answer most of the questions easily. Other questions are along the lines of.. where do you see yourself in ten years? What are you planning on doing during the year if you're not a full time student? What difficulties do you foresee as a medical student? A physician? etc. Lots of introspective things.

just make sure you don't send it in before you get an invitation because you can get rejected right off the bat

Invitation to submit a secondary, not an interview invitation. Though, I believe some schools do automatic interview invites based on a very high stats cut-off (UMich discontinued their last year, but I think one or two others still do)

Our school doesn't have summa or regular cum laude, only magna 😛
