Where are your interview pens now?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I still use the pen I received from Stanford and hand sanitizer from Mt. Sinai even though I was long rejected from them last year. Gotta love me some free swag.

I got such a nice one at WVU and loved it, used it daily. Then one day the lab coat i kept it in at work disappeared and I never found either.....

I've been using my pens but they are cheap plastic and super tacky looking. One is bright aqua and the other is lime green. The lime green school is usually pretty classy about everything else so I was surprised. One guy at my first interview (that school was too cheap to give pens at all) got made fun by the dean bc he had a bright yellow hotel pen sticking out of his suit pocket. He actually called him out in a room full of 40+ people like "nice pen you got there"

During work I ran out to lunch across the street with my brand new Tulane pen in my pocket. I later found it in the street, crushed, after someone ran over it 🙁 aka - sign of my decision at Tulane.

edit - my other pens are doing well.

Just curious. I lent the pen they gave me from George Washington to a girl at work and she didn't wanna give it back to me.

After I found out they waitlisted me I told her she could keep it..pff

Where are all ur interview pens?

Um, what? She didn't want to give it back? Why didn't you just take it back?

It must have been a really good pen or else she's just cheap. Every interview pen I've seen is just a cheap plastic/metal freebie. Now, if they were giving out Parker pens, then that's another story. Those pens are awesome.

Well, I mean since he said she didn't want to give it back, I'm assuming he asked for it back. What kind of person just says no and refuses to give it back? I mean, at that point you just take it back (assuming it's a nice pen that means something to you and not like a $0.10 Bic or something).

Like most of my other belongings, my pens are scattered all over my floor. Also I got in trouble for using my Northwestern pen on an exam because it is very purple.

I LOVE that pen, so great to write with; I've been taking notes with it haha

Vandy gives out amazing pens. I've been holding onto mine for the last year and the quality is really nice...

I really want a vanishing point, but I can't pull the trigger on a $150 pen.

After reading this and wondering what would make a pen cost that much, I watched Youtube reviews of fancy pens for a solid 30 minutes. Some of those pens were pushing $1000 and it made me feel kinda judgemental but also kinda like I'm missing out on something.

Whoa I haven't gotten a single pen at any of my interviews!

You're not.

Yeah I was surprised by how nice the pen was. Still using that one and people always think it's some high-end pen.

For me it's not about the pens though. It's what do I do with the t-shirts. I guess I'll throw them in the donation bins.

You got shirts at interviews? Wut?

All of the pens I've gotten are in my sensible pens bucket on my desk. I've yet to be given one that belongs in the fun and colorful bucket, unfortunately

This is a classic example of not knowing you want something until you know it exists lol.

Which pen did you get? The library pen or the actual fancier tulane one?

Im pretty sure i actually threw the shirt i got from TCMC in the trash 😳

Mine are all sitting on my desk in a pile... like everything else on my desk.

Wait, so some schools give out water bottles? Which ones were those? None of my interviews had that.

Gave one to a cute girl at a coffee shop who asked if she could borrow a pen. Told her she could keep it if she would agree to meet me again there sometime.

She gave me a fake phone number. As for the pen, I like to think that it's probably on her boyfriend's floor somewhere.
