So on the MSAR, I see that there are

numbers interviewed and numbers matriculated only.

I have a few interviews and just want to know what would be the %chance I have (purely from statistical point of view) in getting accepted after the interview for each school.

I'd appreciate your help!

you have to pay for US News and World Report... they have that info.

thanks for your reply!

so I actually paid and got access to US News and World Report.

What exactly does it mean when a school is "unranked"?

Does that mean these "unranked" schools are actually below the rankings of all the "ranked" schools?

The number ranges from 25-33% typically. Hence the magic number of 3 interviews usually meaning an acceptance.

Do they also have those stats for international students?

Yes. The categories are: overall, in-state, out-of-state, women, minorities, and internationals. And they show number applied, interviewed, accepted, and matriculated for each.

Keep in mind the data may be a bit old. For example, I saw Vanderbilt's interviewed + accepted data and drew a conclusion... only to find that the data was a bit old and Vanderbilt's # interviewed has gone down a lot in the most recent cycle. (this data is made public by the school's website).

Perhaps other schools have the same issue.

No, it means that the school opted out of being a part of the rankings. US News only ranks schools that provide it with certain information, and schools can choose to be unranked simply by failing/refusing to provide it.

Take all rankings with a grain of salt. Until recently, Mayo chose to be unranked.

I looked at the numbers for the 40 schools I'm applying, and it's way higher than 25-33%. I'd say it's more like 35-60%. A couple schools dip down below 30%, and a couple have acceptance rates above 70% for interviewees but the majority are between 35-60%.

Yep, this. Most seem to be around 40%.

I just assume that the number of students accepted was double the matriculant number.

I think it's more like 3x. Most schools have a yield around 30-40%.

Does anyone know if, generally, acceptance rates go up (perhaps substantially) for early interview dates?

You'd think that schools would interview the best applicants first. On the other hand, perhaps some early interview dates are given to those who simply happen to have applied particularly early.

Anyone have any insight?

I averaged all my % accept of interviewees for each school I have. For N=14 I have a mean of 46.4%. accepted. Range is 24.4 to 63.4 percent accepted from the interview pool. Standard deviation is 10.9%.
