Where can I find the USPHS internship?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I doubt you looked everywhere, the IHS internship is easily found right on their site. That big tab that says student opportunities, who would have thunkdittyunk it.

Oh that? Yeah, I saw it. It just seemed like some sort of ROTC type thing (commissioned corps, etc...). And it talks about being "called into service". Is that really what the USPHS internship is?
i don't want a military-type thing (though I know USPHS is not the military, but still...)
I don't want an "active duty officer" type thing. But I guess if that's what it is, that's what it is.

USPHS is considered active duty officers... but you should know that it is FAR from the other branches of the military. You cannot be deployed or used in any capacity for war. You respond to national / natural disasters.

I would look into it some more before you right it off - it is a good deal if its something that you are interested in.

I would agree that it's worth looking into and the FDA internship is (at least in my experience) a great opportunity. It counted as one of my elective rotations and I met pharmacists working in all different capacities at the FDA, including many USPHS officers. It was a great break from the more "intense" clinical rotations and very interesting to see what other opportunities exist outside of clinical/retail...but that's just my two cents 🙂

So, since JRCOSTEP is the same thing as the USPHS internship, I decided not to do it. Don't want to be an active duty officer, just for the prospect of being put on reserves.

And FDA is unpaid, and I need my paychecks especially since I'd have to get housing.

It's alright, I got a few others (2 or 3) that I'm applying for. If not, then Rite Aid and CTY (working at a camp) for me.
