Both times I did it, it was a one day certification and I got CPR/AED and First Aid. When I got re-certified, it was like 2 hours...
I don't know about cost because I've always been employed somewhere where it was required and they paid for the training... I'm pretty sure you can get on the Red Cross or the American Heart Association webpage to see what the costs are, not positive, but I would assume so!
I got the CPR/AED certification from the American Red Cross. It was a 3-4 hour long course. The fee was about $50-60 (I forgot the exact amount), and the certification is good for up to one year. The AHA's certification is good for two years, so you might want to consider taking the AHA
