I was waiting for a grade to come out from a bio course i took this summer. came out officially on my transcript today. I will e-submit on Tuesday of next week after taking this weekend to fine-tune my app. I have the DAT scheduled for Aug 27th (~6 weeks after i submit on Tues).

Medium in cycle? Considering DAT scores take about 2-3 Weeks to process- your APP will be complete September.

do they? i thought they were automatically uploaded to my app via the dentpin.

DAT will be in pretty late... I'd say right in the middle of middle-late in the timeline. A lot of people will already have interviews set by early september, which is probably when your DAT scores will arrive.

It is; however, ADA must "process your results" or something like that. Takes about 2-3 weeks.

In addition, some schools want DAT scores "sent to them" from the "ADA." Go look up the numerous threads about "should I pay ADA to send scores, or does AADSAS do that for me"

If your school requires that then it may take an additional 2-3 week processing.

additional 2-3 weeks on top of the 2-3 weeks for the ADA processing?

would it make a big enough difference if i took the test 7 days earlier, aug 20? i don't think my level of preparation will be much different at that point (since aug 23-27 in when fall semester start, prob won't get much studying in)

Not exactly sure on that. You will have to contact ADA on that. For me, it took 2-3 weeks processing. Then after processing, I requested scores, and ADA told me it will arrive 2-3 weeks.

However, if you order AHEAD of time, I'm assuming that it will get sent immediately as soon scores are processed.

Once again, I'm assuming. Call ADA and find out.

I think it would, but I dunno it just seems arbitrary at that point. Plus you might get it in before labor day and shave another day off.

just an fyi, i called my schools and ADA to figure out where i stood.
they said that they can start reviewing my app as soon as they get my DAT scores, and it doesnt matter how they get the scores. that means that i can fax my scores in directly to them and review will begin or because they constantly review any updates that come in, they'll see the instant ADA upload and begin review.

I didn't realize the the 'DAT' sending the scores (which is what takes 2-3 wks) went through an entirely different process than the instant 'ADA upload'.

And late august-sept 1 is pretty much the cut off for "early".

i am quite curious about this as well. What is early and what is late?
What are the criterias on which people base the dates on?

Do you go with the date that you esubmitted or the date when the dental schools actually receive your package?

I am too am worried b/c i feel mine is pretty late..

there are no one here who can give you a correct answer lol. everyone who answers will give you an answer based on their own opinion. even all doc toothache can do when he comes along (which i bet is gonna be soon lol) is give you a random stat from predents to get you a rough idea of the correlation between submitted date and interview/acceptance rates... which ultimately doesnt even answer the question of "when is the early cutoff date?"

In my own opinion, early would be june to mid july, "neutral" would be mid july to late august, late-ish would be september and you-better-have-unbelievable-stats-late would be october and later.

i say just call your school that you're worried about. i called my state schools (texas) and nyu/bu/tufts. they all said they don't start calling people in for interview until september and fill up many seats by october. july/august will be fine.

They'll start interviewing in Sept. but they will have invited those people for interviews in August.

IMO, you should be fine, they do a lot of interviews in Oct. and Nov. Houston will continue to interview through March!
