very strange!!! I applied to 16 schools, and got secondaries from 15 of them long time ago. Only Loyola did not send me one. Weird!

Loyola screens for secondaries so they might take a bit longer.

interesting, I was advised by my premed advisor to apply to Loyola, because it is low end school and therefore would be "safe" school for me. So if it is low end school why would they screen 😀

Funny, kind of like my never getting one from evms, but a few from schools that do screen, like the uc scools.

Stritch is actually a great school. I would love to go there if I get in, haha.

Stritch is still fairly competitive, but they do look past numbers. They have a strong focus on humanism in medicine look for students who have similar values.

Here are the stats for last year's admissions:

2004 Application Figures:
Applications Received - 6,664
Completed Applications - 3,784
Applicants Interviewed - 580
Acceptances Offered - 308

2004 Entering Class Profile:
Male - 49%
Female - 51%
Colleges represented - 67
States represented - 29
Illinois Residents - 41%
Age Range - 21 to 32

Mean Grade Point Averages:
Science - 3.59
Non-science - 3.74
Total - 3.66

Mean MCAT Scores:
Verbal reasoning - 9.8
Physical sciences - 9.7
Writing skills - O
Biological sciences - 10.3

Loyola opts out of rankings, but their stats are comparable to many second tier schools. Our MCAT scores are a tad low, but our avg GPA is a bit higher.

i don't remember the required length (i believe most of mine were around 3-400 words) but here are the essays:

1. What do you consider a valuable experience in your personal development? This might be a decision you have made, an achievement of which you are particularly proud, or a person who has influenced your life.

2. Describe briefly how you have dealt with a personal or academic problem you have encountered.

3. How did you reach your decision to enter medicine? Describe your participation in any health care or other activities which reinforced your decision.

4. What self-education, research, or independent scholastic work have you undertaken and what do you feel you have accomplished in this work?

5. If you will not be enrolled as a full-time student during the current academic year, please explain what you will be doing prior to your planned matriculation into medical school.

6. Please use this space to bring the information contained on your AMCAS application up-to-date. Indicate grades earned, alterations in your proposed course work or graduation date, address changes, additions to your list of activities, and anything else you feel we should know.
