Hi!

I just applied for this 2019 cycle and I would greatly appreciate some input as to which schools to strike from my current list and which schools to add.

I'm interested in going to school in California, but I know that's a pretty tough sell for OOS students. Particularly those who do not belong to under-represented groups in medicine. What are my odds?

In general, I'm primarily leaning in schools in city areas, the ones I'm very interested in are bolded below. The Baylor College of Medicine is my top choice, what do ya'll think about my odds there? I didn't take Spanish in college, which I know is something they favor.

Medical students and other people who have applied to medical school, please help!

Your app is strong and you should have a good chance at most schools on your list.

The only schools I would remove would be
- Oregon
- U Mass
- U Colorado

These school have large IS bias

@Goro @Faha and @LizzyM could give you the best advice.

Would I actually have a shot at Harvard or the UC Schools? I was under the impression it was pretty much impossible to get into those schools (especially as an out of state resident in the case of california)

Take Oregon, UMass and Rush off of the list... the first two highly favor residents and Rush expects more clinical experience than you have (but you have plenty for other schools).
Look at the OOS tuition charged by Colorado and ask yourself if you'd attend if it were the only school that admitted you.

Goro has given you a good list of possible schools but you should be parsimonious because you will get interviews and you'll be run ragged with travel if you apply to more than 20 schools which is the length of your original list if you strike the three I've suggested.

UCLA would be a good addition if you are looking to go to a school in California. From their website they claim they do not have an IS bias.

It would be helpful to look at each of the California schools website and see what their policy is on OOS applicants.
