I've seen some people saying how you should look at the camera to simulate eye contact, but is it that big of a deal? When I try doing it, I feel a little uncomfortable since I can't really see what's happening on the screen, preventing me from seeing reactions or social cues. For those who have had interviews already, what did you do?

I received this suggestion from my pre-health committee as well -- to look into the camera. Honestly, I would practice looking at both the camera and at the screen a few times and see what makes you feel comfortable. In my honest opinion, it won't make or break a decision (I'm sure there will be thousands of technical difficulties throughout this process. As long as you are looking in the general direction and eyes are toward their view, you should be fine. Good luck!

I do quite a bit on Zoom and it is very difficult to look at the camera, although that is what is suggested. Might be a great idea to practice with a friend online and get some feedback on what looks best!

Good luck on the interviews ....Nancy

Yes it can be difficult to look directly at the camera. Don't worry about it. You just want to remain engaged with the interviewer. What you want to avoid is looking away (at the ground, at the wall to the left or right, or make it seem like you're not paying attention). Practicing with friends or family on facetime or zoom may help.

how do y'all introduce yourself for zoom interviews? Usually it'd be a handshake and "nice to meet you" but obviously it'll be a little different.
