Any ideas about where to find associate positions when moving to a new part of the country - specifically southern CA?
I've tried all the obvious things and searches/websites and am just having the hardest time finding much. I don't know the area well either.

Any ideas?

Dentists and people are moving away from Cali and the state is about to completely cut Denticare coverage; even low end offices will be affected too. Why not move to Iowa or Texas or elsewhere?

My sister over there said that they are laying off lots of teachers too.

Thanks. Yeah, CA seems a bit difficult for dentists (now that we are actually looking into it). I matched there for my residency and am desperately trying to help my husband (an dentist with experience) find a job.

Any current students in southern CA that have any ideas? Thanks!

Move to Riverside and open your own place. There are a lot of brand new and beautiful practices you can buy for $100K.

I think getting a dentist job is pretty difficult in So. Cal right now. I work part-time at a private clinic and was thinking of finding another job to add a couple of days. But so far no luck and it's been a few months. I just know that practices around here are usually looking for dentists with at least a couple of years experience. If anyone else has advice for this area, please share!

I would ask local dental product reps. They are in dentist's offices everyday and usually know what their current needs are. All the ortho reps have the inside scoop on who's selling practices, looking for associates, etc and I know the same is often true for GP's especially if your husband has experience. There has got to be SOME opportunities in the area even if it is supersaturated, it is all about getting your name out there and making contacts.

This is the best advice. Reps know all and see all. I'm not sure who's big there, but locally Schein and Pearson reps are the ones I'd be talking to.
