I've been lurking around and I can't seem to find stats of the National Average for ALL candidates who apply to dental school each year? I am curious to see the average of all GPA/DAT scores of those who apply.

Its different when I look in the handbook because it only gives me the stats of whose accepted/enrolled i believe. let me know if I'm wrong tho.

Cheers.

This seems like info that only AADSAS or TMDSAS would have, whereas the ADEA report obtains the averages from each school every year (whom only have the accepted/enrolled averages). I'm not sure if the application services would be willing to give out that information.

I could be completely wrong though.

I could be wrong, but I don't think those numbers have been released since around 2009. If you do some digging on here I think you'll find the ADEA 2009 numbers, maybe in @doc toothache 's mini guide to dental school.

The numbers for TMDSAS can be found with a little searching. Try looking for TMDSAS "Final Statistics Report" for a given year, or TAAHP reports.

You mean you want to see the GPA/DAT on all the 12K+ applicants?

Oh I see.

@doc_toothache Yeah haha it may sound crazy but it helps me know where I am with my stats on a level of all applicants. I thought AADSAS would have compiled something like that every year to give us a scope of it. The stats form each school are helpful but they make me miserable cause mines are a slightly lower. I just hope to see the numbers I am competing against from all applicants that's all 🙂

Cheers.

But wouldn't it make more sense to compare yourself to those that actually get accepted to dental school? That's what matters in the end, seeing if you're competitive in the schools' eyes.

Yeah it does make sense to compare my stats to those who got accepted. But say, what if the majority of this years applicant are on the lower side compared to the last years acceptances? It might justt give you a little boost of joy 🙂

Cheers.

Yes; he can find those statistics in the "4N" guide to dental school admission.
