Hi. I have been accepted at both West Virginia University and University of North Carolina and have been having a lot of trouble deciding where to go. WVU is in-state for me and UNC is of course out-of-sate. I was wondering if anybody is/was in a situation like this and what they considered when deciding. Thanks!

Good post and I'm curious to read the responses.

Is it always better to go in-state to limit long term debt?

My understanding from reading other posts on this board is that UNC is rather research and clinical focused, so you might give some thought to what you think your long-term goals are with pharmacy and how well the school's programs match up. Also, if you think you are going to practice in West Virginia, then I would think you should stay with your in-state school for the potential contacts.

As much as I thought of the area .....well i will keep that to myself....I think Morgantown would be your wisest option if you are concerned about money. It is very inexpensive compared to UNC out of state

Go to WVU. It's cheaper and the education is basically the same wherever you go. As an added bonus, you get to listen to me give a lecture next year in your pharmacy lab with Mr. McIntyre during my teaching rotation.

I wanted to thank everybody for all the advice. I'll be headed to WVU next year. 🙂
