Where to live while attending TUSPM?

Hello,

I was wondering if any Temple students here had any advice on where to live while attending Temple. I don't want to live in the on campus housing and would like to live in a safe neighborhood. I've been looking around but I really don't have a clue as to which areas in philly are safe or are too far away for commuting.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

If you stay in center city (Race to South from north to south, Front to 22nd ish from east to west) you'll be just fine when it comes to being safe. You still have to have street smarts when it comes to living in Philly even in these areas, but North Philly, West Philly (whatever isn't near Upenn), and parts of South Philly are what you have to watch out for.

does anyone know if the student housing for pods is pet friendly or not? (small dog)

I'm from the suburb area so I may live at home. But I also feel that it is more beneficial if I live in Philly. If I do, something in Center City or the on-campus dorm is my best choice. Also check out this site. its fairly accurate for what neighborhood to live in
