I have an interview on Jan. 8th at Drexel, and I tried doing their student host program, but none of the current students could host on the 7th. Are there any cheap hotels (~$40) around Drexel, that are within walking distance (I hate taking cabs, but I will if need be 😡 )? What part of Philly is Drexel in (does it have a specific name) cause I may just get a hotel room on priceline/hotwire? I know there are a few sdners that are interviewing at drexel on the 8th, so i was wondering what you guys are doing?
Merry Xmas and happy holidays!

I stayed at a bed and breakfast-- i think it was called Parson's Corner. I payed $40... and the place is within walking distance from Drexel. I know I posted a bunch of details about it a while back, so you'll see my comments if you do a search. It was a great deal for the price.

Good luck on your interview :luck:

I heard from my host that when she stayed there for her interview, one of the bed and breakfasts was cash only...keep that in mind...not sure which one it was...

I paid with a check, so it must have been the other bed and breakfast.

Tinker-

Thanks for the suggestion on Parson's Corner. I went ahead and reserved a room there, and the lady was extremely nice. They seemed like they were really trying to accomodate interviewees at Drexel. Its $45, instead of $40, and the lady was like we only accept cash or check. Do you think they'd take AAA discount? Anyways, thanks for your help and best of luck everyone in this nerve-wrecking process.

I suppose it never hurts to ask, but I don't know if they would acutally take the discount. They aren't a real hotel... they are actually letting you stay on the third floor of their house (but don't worry, it's really nice). Are you taking a cab from the train station to Parson's Corner? If so, make sure you mapquest directions for the cab driver. Mine didn't know where the heck she was going.

If you want more details on Parsons Corner or on the interview, just let me know 🙂

Good luck :luck:

I stayed at the Sheraton near Drexel's undergraduate campus and that was NOT the best idea in the world...

I was unfamiliar with the area, so I ended up staying at a hotel near the undergraduate campus, which I found out later was at least 20 min from the med school building; the cab ride itself cost me ~$30.00 + the hotel fee was ~$100.00. Stupid me, should have done my research 🙁

I'll be there on the 8th too. See you guys there.

Anyone stay at the Falls Inn or the Wyndham Franklin Plaza?

How close is the CoM to Philadelphia's sights?
