Where you do residency?

Does it really matter where you do your residency if you are a competent board certified EM physician? As far as job prospects and such????

To a certain extent, yes. It's not the be all, end all of your career though.

Depends on what you want. If you mean, can I get a job and support myself and my family, probably doesn't matter much. However, some markets are more competitive.

I think that in the end it ends up being who you know more than anything. The best jobs, it seems like from speaking to my older colleagues, don't really get advertised, but people find them by networking and word of mouth.

Where you do your residency may help you get a foot in the door a lot of places just through alumni networking and such, but in the end, you gotta do some legwork, call some people, and sell yourself to get where you want to go, and the program name can only take you so far.
