Looks like an "ass-kickin' chicken" beat a tiger today!
USC 31 Clemson 28 - in Death Valley!
And Clemson was ranked! (Well, they still are - just until the next poll!)
He may be shedding tears for his tiggers. Great game all around and no fist-to-cuffs this time. I got chills with the victory-it's been a long time. Very proud Gamecock today and glad we hung in there when it was looking bad. Culture change here in SC thanks to Spurrier!
Go COCKS!

I had lunch at Hooters (a late lunch), and there was a LOT of orange - oh well!
Got to call my friends in Wyoming - they met while tutoring 'Cocks football players!

Knowing Ibn Sina, he's probably drinking his worries away. Either that or he put his fist through his computer screen. No worries though. I got in a text message whilst the final seconds ran off the clock.
BTW: My Hokies took care of business too. Just call them the Grinches. As there is no joy in "Hoo-ville".

I'm right here.
I'm still trying to figure out why we didn't run the ball instead of throwing it on the last third down. Must be nice to play all year with those SEC refs too. It's a shame there is no such thing as holding in that conference.

Oh no you didn't...
Bringing up the refs as a rason clemson lost...come on, be a bigger man/woman than that!
It was a great game and bad calls on both sides (they would have gotten away with one if spurrier had not challenged that "lateral" ruling). We gamecock fans are just glad to be able to blame refs these days (losing by 40 + pts is hard to blame on a bad call😀 )
I truly feel for Jad Dean and that miss being the last play of his career...
Oh well, cheers to finally having bragging rights!! We won't let you forget
GO COCKS!

(I 😍 Spurrier!)
My da called obscenely late at night (he just can't understand the "atlantic standard time" thing when exciting football happens) to crow about The Civil War (Oregon State vs Univ. of Oregon)
Apparently he (OSU alum) and mom (UofO alum) were yelling and throwing things at the TV in the final mins lol.
Our family has to watch the game on neutral territory now-it gets violent otherwise lol.
The thing about Beaver fans is that they could loose every game but as long as they beat the Ducks then it's considered a winning season. Plus you get to sneak outside and decorate your relative's cars with bumperstickers from your team...(mom's jeep is now sporting a "Beaver in the car, Duck in the trunk" sticker) Dad's now in love with Alexis Serna and Ben Seigart

Are you in Newfoundland or the Caribbean? I just ask because that's where AST is. If you're on the east coast, it's EST (Eastern Standard Time).
But I hear ya about the rivalries. Back when I was a cadet (back in the Old Corps), The Citadel beat up on us year after year. Oy!

Nah, I wasn't blaming the refs. At least not for this game. I was blaming the coach for that pass call. I will say that the refs weren't helping us out any.
There's always next year.
And I think Jad Dean's last play should have been the missed PAT at BC, or the two blocked kicks vs FSU. Why on earth we can't have another kicker is beyond me. Next year we hopefully will have a kicker that doesn't suck, as well as a QB that can throw the ball.
Damn, we lost to some chickens. Now I have to put up with that for a year.

Man murdered over USC-Clemson game-suspect charged on the $20 bet murder
(Lexington County) November 26, 2006 - Lexington County Sheriff's Department detectives charged a 42-year-old Lexington man with murder after he allegedly fatally shot another man with a high-powered rifle during a dispute about a bet that the men had made over the USC-Clemson football game.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives charged James Walter Quick, 42, of Lexington, with murder and possessing a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Quick was being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on Sunday awaiting a bond hearing that has not yet been scheduled.
Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman said preliminary results of an autopsy that was performed Sunday on the body of Richard Allen Johnson, 43, of Lexington, show that Johnson died instantly after he was shot once in the chest with a high-powered rifle. Harman ruled Johnson's death was a homicide.
The Lexington County Communications Center received a call about the shooting incident from Johnson's wife, Lynn, at about 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, Metts said. Lynn Johnson told telecommunications operators that Quick had shot her husband.
Detectives determined that Quick and Richard Johnson, who had been drinking beer all afternoon, began arguing shortly after the end of the Clemson-USC football game, Metts said.
Quick and Richard Johnson, who were good friends, bet $20 on the outcome of the Clemson-USC football game. Quick bet that USC would win the game, while Richard Johnson bet that Clemson would win. Quick and Richard Johnson watched the football game on television at Richard Johnson's home.
After the game ended, Quick and Richard Johnson began arguing about their bet on the football game while they were outside Richard Johnson's home, Metts said. During the argument, Quick went to his Chevrolet Corsica and retrieved a high-powered rifle that Quick normally uses for hunting. Quick then turned towards Richard Johnson and fired one shot from the rifle at Richard Johnson, striking Richard Johnson in the chest.
Deputies who responded to the call about the shooting incident found Quick standing with his arms folded across his chest and leaning against his car, which was parked in the front yard of Richard Johnson's home, Metts said. Officers arrested Quick without incident and recovered the rifle that was used in the murder in Quick's car.

I was just about to post the very same article.

I would use that article to show something about Gamecock fans, but I'll pass.
That dumb incident has probably ruined at least 2 lives, if not more (their families).

It seems rather VERY shortsighted to think that a Clemson fan wasn't greatly involved (as something happened to make one guy want to shoot the other), especially with a lack of details. Likewise, to extrapolate that to all fans of a team or university is rather uninspired.
Great minds think alike, apollyon😉
Sad story, but shows how deep this game runs in our "culture." Football, beer and rifles are never a great mix.
It divides my house (i married a clemson redneck😳 ) which made for a unique 1st anniversary yesterday. He would have slept outside last night if the cocks had lost. We wisely have no weapons in the house.

Football, beer and rifles are never a great mix.
You have to remember that this rivalry has had ROTC fights in the streets in the past as well.
And I wasn't saying the Clemson guy wasn't at least partly responsible. Since he was the one that got shot, I might even be able to say he brought a knife to a gun fight, but either way, lives are ruined.
I guess it could be worse, I married a Volunteers/Wolverines/Redskins fan. Football days are quite rough.
Also, hadn't mentioned it, I had to put up with Lou Holtz (motto: Can't beat 'em, quit) talking about USC's superiority and dominance of the whole game. I did not need to hear him do that.
heh heh heh. Caribbean. But I'd like to do an externship in Newfie too.Are you in Newfoundland or the Caribbean? I just ask because that's where AST is. If you're on the east coast, it's EST (Eastern Standard Time).

Man, I remember one I vs Cit game...we scored a field goal and the Commandant was so excited the entire corps got weekend leave (even the rat class)
I'm not sure if that was because of the field goal or how impressed he was with the firstclassmen's prank.
so hope u SC fans enjoyed your time with spurrier.. rumor has it he's headed down to THE "U"
I'd heard that too. USC countered with a statement quoting Spurrier as saying that he's here to make the gamecocks great, or something along those lines. beating a Clemson team that, frankly, looked like crap saturday isn't great.

Yeah and before the clemson game he was heading to Miami, the day after he was taking over bama... Maybe he'll go to both (he's that good!)...
AND, I hear Bush gave him a call to get him to go to Iraq too since we need a little offense over there. 😀
But really, it makes no sense that such a great coach with something to prove would go to an already winning program. He's here for us and himself (which is fine by me).
Go COCKS!

living in probably the only place in the coutry where you routinely hear COCKS mentioned in everyday conversation 🙂
