Which of the two would be better?

- An online BS degree from a four-year university like Georgia Tech coupled with pre-medical courses from Harvard Extension

- A community college BS degree coupled with pre-medical courses from Harvard Extension

Doesn't really matter. Get good grades. Online degrees are generally not well respected though....

Taking any courses online is usually frowned upon by adcoms, I can't even imagine what they'd think about someone who got their BS online. Is there any reason why you can't just go to a 4 year university? Harvard Extension I've heard is HARD and a real GPA killer. Don't go through this extra effort to try and impress schools b/c it will probably backfire on you.

I can get away for a year, so Harvard X works for me. But I can't get away for longer than that because I have strong locational constraints. There is no 4 year university in my area (within a reasonable four hour commute distance, or 2 hours each way)

Ah I see. Well in those circumstances I'd definitely pick the community college + Harvard Extension (just be prepared to work your butt off!).
