Hi all:
Typically, med schools ask for 2 General Biology with lab as pre-reqs. Do they have to "General Biology I, and General Biology II"?

Right now, at NCSU, the only bio course I can get into is Intro to Cell Development offered by the zoology dept. I wonder if I take that and another bio course, would that satisfy the requirement?

I am planning on taking Microbiology and maybe also Genetics (both online courses) in future.

I still have org. chem II left..but I thought I would take Bio 1 in spring and take O. Chem II and another bio in Summer/Fall next year.

Basically, if someone could tell me more about biology course requirements for med schools in general, I would be grateful..
Like what combination would satisfy the requirement.

Thanks and have a good weekend.

You may want to ask others, but I think that that would be okay. For my major I couldn't take "General Biology" - our basic sequence is Intro Cell Bio, Intro Developmental Bio, and General Physiology. (Quarter system so all that is one year). That was the most basic biology for me.

In case you are curious, I also am going to NCSU and will be taking Intro Bio I this semester.

There were only two sections this semester that filled up quick. Because of this they opened a lab section last week allowing 20 more people into the class.

You'll find lots of advice here, but I'd recommend asking an advisor (most schools have a pre-med advisor) which courses you want to take. Different schools have different course names/numbers, but the pre-med advisor will know which courses will get you into medical school. You'd hate to act on assumption and take the wrong class, I'm sure.<br>
Good luck to you!

Consult your pre-med advisor.

In most colleges, there are 2 or 3 introductory biology courses, with laboratories, that are required of all biology majors. Take those. The idea is to get a general overview of biology that is somewhat rigorous.

I applied to one school (In Canada) that DID ask for the description of the courses from the course catalog!
