which bond is stronger, a c-c sigma bond or a c-H sigma bond and why?
I think it should be C-H since it is shorter than the C-C bond, am i correct...anyone??

You are correct. The C-H bond is stronger. A C-H bond has a bond length of 109 pm and a bond dissociation energy of 413 kJ / mol, while a C-C bond has a bond length of 154 pm and a bond dissociation energy of 348 kJ / mol. H

There is a general trend between bond length and bond dissociation energy. However, be careful about totally associating bond energy with bond length because it is not always the case. For instance O-O has a shorter bond length than C-C, but is pretty easy to break. It all comes down to a mix of atom composition, electron affinities, and electronegativities.
