Hi

I was wondering in which class did most people get a "B" in? Does AMCAS have B+ or B- on the application. I will apply about few years from now and I was just wondering. Thanks.

History of venereal disease. Tough class.

Hispanic themes: Latin America.

Teacher on crack. Didn't give anyone an A. I managed a B-. Killed my GPA.

I got Cs in Intro to Electrical engineering, Operations Research, Freshman Chemistry and Intermediate Spanish. Nobody seems to care as long as you've got a good overall average.

Organic Chemistry I and II with labs. That hurts a lot 🙁

orgo and biochem. glad I am done with them

Hi,

Well, I got a LOT of Bs... Cell and Molecular Bio, Organismal Bio, General Chem II, Physics II and a B+ on General Chem III. =(

A freaking intro level Psych class. I was pissed.

really speaking.. ditto.. who cares?

Get an overal GPA of 3.6 of 4 or bettter. And do compable or better in science as non science, and you're okay.

Are you asking what are the hard classes? i think that depends on the school and the individual. Talk to your classmates.

to answer your question: gen chem II , cell bio, a stupid seminar class on bio engineering business, english composition, and statistics (Because i missed one midterm).

a b in economics the most boring class ever. Intro to philosophy, because im concise and dont wanna stretch out a damn paper into 20 more pages. and comp II because the teacher dies during the last 2 weeks. and extra credit that was suppose to be given goes away because the sub has a busy teaching schedule.

In general chem. I and II, and its labs.

Hi

I am interested where people got a "B" in, because I wanted to see where it is kind of acceptable to get a "B" in. Thanks.

C Programming.

I swear that 90+% of the people in there already had several years of programming experience from high school. So much for a "fun" class. 🙁

It's a long list...
A bit of advice, work hard now, so you don't have to pay up for it later. i.e. have to do two to three extra years of school just to raise your GPA to the acceptable level 🙁

But from what I've heard (schools that I've contacted) as long as your GPA overall is relatively high, a few bad years won't harm you that much. SO, in my oppinion, a few B's are nothing to worry about.

P.S. I list my stats so freely on SDN to let others know that everyone who posts here isn't perfect. An upward trend looks great. So just work hard, and you'll get there. ( eventually... 😉 )

Hi!

I totally agree with you ClimberChick - an upward trend looks great. I got about 3.4 my first year, during which time I was really worried. Second year I got 3.75, and third year I averaged 3.9. If you show an upward trend, it shows adcoms that perhaps you matured or sometimes flat-out got your act together. I think I did - ditching organic chem definately wasn't smart. I hope I learned since then. ^_^;;

B in genetics, 2nd semester of general chemistry, political science, physics, biochem, micro economics... does this make any of you feel better? If it does, I can list more... 😉

B's in every single biochem + chem course I took and a few silly entry-level bio courses. AND a C in orgo. In addition, came dangerously close to failing anatomy during first year of med school. But I still was admitted to med school, and no, daddy isn't rich, no, I'm not a URM, and no, I didn't sleep with the Dean of Admissions or any members of his family..prob. "no" to any other stereotypes people tend to think of. I'm now a third year med student who is doing well, enjoying third year, and turned out quite a respectable performance on Step 1. Don't worry about a few B's!

I got a B in gen.chem. I got an A in the lab though🙂 I almost got a B in social psych, but the prof was such a freakin psychopath. I'm serious, he was evil. Over half the class failed exam #1, and the average was probably a low C/high D. Social Psych is not difficult, so obviously it was the prof. But he claims that his class of 100 students "didn't study"....yeah right!😱 😱 😱
