So as of now I'm almost complete with my informal post-bacc where I retook my poor grades in undergrad. This should bring my GPA from a 3.23 to a 3.55 ish. Unfortunately I received a C in biochem and D in a fungal course. I just retook another fungi/ecosystems course, so fungal biology (anticipating an A in it) is still fresh in my head. I'm confident I will receive an A in either course, but will probably be easier for me to get an A in the fungi course. The difference it makes in my GPA is a 0.02 difference (biochem is 4 credits and fungi is 3).

One other thing of note is the fungi course did change names slightly and is a different course number, but is exactly the same material. I've spoken to my professor who teaches both courses and he said he's willing to put in writing that they are both the same course with different titles. I understand biochem will leave me better prepped for medical school, but that D looks really bad on my transcript. Can anyone weigh in on this subject? Thanks

So if I understand you correctly, you are just currently finishing that very similar (to the one you got a "D" in) fungi class? If you have information to support that the fungal bio class is effectively a retake, you might be able to classify it as such on your AACOMAS. So I might call AACOMAS to ask them about that possibility and retake the biochem. 🙂

Sorry, the class I'm currently finishing up this semester (Fungi and ecosystems) is NOT similar enough as the one I got a D in (Mushrooms molds and mankind) to constitute a grade replacement, but the one offered next semester is (now has been renamed to mushrooms and society) is the same as mushrooms/molds/mankind but just had a name change. The class I'm taking now (F and E) is similar, but not the same enough to constitute a grade replacement for the D course (MMM). I know this is convoluted, but this is one of those rare times I have no idea what I should do.

My answer is crystal clear - BIOCHEMISTRY without ANY debate. Why would you think that fungal studies, would trump such a very, very basic informational database provided by Biochemistry?

Thanks, this is the response I was looking for. Only reason I speculated at all is because of the D just looks really bad on my transcript, but hopefully getting that A in biochem can help prove my worthiness more for adcoms.

@DloopF2 I freaking love some of the GoT fan art out there and this one was my favorite. I really hope the next season brings some flashbacks to all the crap that preceded the show. I haven't read the books, but what I've read up on the wiki pages just sounds so awesome. I really really want to see a R. Baratheon vs. Rhaegar on the screen.
