Which DO school should I apply to?

Hello everyone!

So I am a current MMS student at LECOM and I thought that I would like to end up at LECOM for medical school too, but I honestly just don't like the school. Obviously I can't visit each DO school to like how you do college visits, so I just wanted to ask for some input? I'm looking for a school that is in a medical district, downtown area, or near a hospital. The thing with LECOM is that it is just a small building out in the middle of nowhere and there are no opportunities to do research or any other extracurriculars. Also, I am looking for a DO school that has great amenities, and I don't mean a gym or something, I mean like a library or computer lab or something of the sort. Because LECOM legit has nothing like that, the library is so small and not the school has no resources for the students. I want to go to a school that has good resources for its students and doesn't just give them the bare minimum like LECOM. I would also like a school that allows first and second years to have some minimal clinical experiences and other extracurricular activities. Any suggestions on DO schools that fit what I am looking for?

I wouldn't be too picky about stuff like this...

I mean PCOM in Philly or MSUCOM in Detroit or CCOM in Chicago are dope places to live as far as downtown, real city life.
But as far as amenenities, the new new schools like ARCOM are probably the most impressive.

Wait until you get into whatever schools and if you have the lovely problem of being able to choose between 2+ schools, figure it out from there which best suits you.

Other schools will have a campus too, but I liked (in no particular order) DMU, MSU, CCOM, and AZCOM campuses. WesternU-Pomona was only okay, and it’s obvious it used to be an old shopping complex. MSU and Nova felt the most “college-like” but the others have legit campuses that make you feel like you’re not confined to a single building. Nova/MSU have large campuses because they have undergraduates in addition to the graduate/professional programs but I would not recommend going to Nova’s DO program if you get to be picky.

I go to one of the schools on goros list. Attached to a hospital with residencies, summer research, etc.

The harsh reality is that it just doesn’t matter. Most of your time is just grinding it out in a study room.

@Goro What about your thoughts on ICOM? I know it's new, but word on the street is that the facility is incredibly nice and Dean Hasty has a great reputation. Do you think that in a couple of years you'd be comfortable comparing it to other new schools like MUCOM and UIW?

I'm more hesitant to recommend new schools because they're a black box. UIW at least, from what I've seen, has a well planned curriculum...at least on paper. I'd rank them MUCOM > UIW > ICOM.
