Hello all,

I am non-traditional student applying to medical school this coming cycle. I started school in the spring of 2009, I now have 60 credit hours complete with a cumulative GPA of 4.0.

Here are two possibilities for a LOR for this coming cycle, I just to get your opinion on what you think will be a "stronger" letter:

1) The Director of Volunteer Services at a Volunteer Health care clinic, I have a total of 65 hours working as a Lab Technician/Phlebotomist over a length of a year and a half, which was August 2009 until present day...however, the director never really observed me working,
Duties: blood draw, lab tests for physicians, etc etc, good patient contact

2) Director of Resident/Patient Operations at Nursing/Hospice facility, I trained as a a CNA at this facility for one month in September 2008, for a total of 130 hours
Duties: MUCH patient contact..assist with showering, feeding, exercising, basically all the duties of a CNA, the director observed me personally for 130 hours...however this was in the fall BEFORE I started school, I started school again in the spring of 2009.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Go with the one written by the person who knows you better. You want LOR's that are not cookie cutter from their facility explaining the hours you put in and what they do and thats it. You want letters that speak of your personality, drive, compassion, and other personal traits.

Otherwise I say both. It would be a disservice not to include both if you suspect they are both well written. If you have a strong limit to the total number or LOR's you want to submit, chop off one of the typical professor LORs if necessary.
