Hello guys,

I'm planning to take the Jan 23rd MCAT, but unfortunately, I'm great at making schedules but terrible at following them. Somehow I shrunk my schedule along the way and now I'm realizing I'm short a few days and I need to drop some of the FLs I had previously planned to take.

Currently, I have 3 online Kaplan FLs, 3 online TPR FLs (didn't buy those, they just came with the books), and the 2 AAMC FLs (sample and practice versions).
I was planning to also buy the 5 Next Step FLs and the 4 EK FLs.

That's 17 FL tests... (consecutive days. I know.. =/) Little too much, but I guess I got OCD, or not, given that the primary reason I didn't do well on my last MCAT was complete lack of practice (got all too anxious).

So question is, which of the 17 do you consider an absolute must and how many do you really think I should do to get my endurance up and work on my anxiety? I know the AAMC ones are a must, but what else?

Thanks!

Obviously the 2 AAMC FL's should be your highest priority because they are straight from the source. Besides that most people say that the EK and NS exams are the most similar to the real deal and so they are going to probably be your most helpful. Save the AAMC sample FL (unscored) and the new scored FL for the last few weeks so your mind will be primed with the most similar material.

Dude you can't do more than one FL every three days!

If you blow through them without reviewing you won't get anything out of it and you'll waste your money...

Lots of people only take a few and do well, but no one does well without thoroughly reviewing theirs after! 🙂

Also I disagree with @baggins825. In order to make your use of the other FL's more efficient, you should start with the unscored AAMC. That way, as you're reviewing the others, you can be really aware of the differences -- especially if anxiety is a problem for you. Many other test-makers present material that people find more convoluted or more content-based than the AAMC.

I'm in Kaplan and their FL's are so off... It made me panic at first, and then I looked at the AAMC material (which I'd been saving) and realized that Kaplan's actually pretty different. Great for guiding content review, and for endurance, but not great to look at and think "that's gonna be my score" if you have anxiety problems. 🙂
