I am considering doing it because I think it's important to get a feel for the test center to reduce some anxiety of being in a new place. You can see where the break-room is, if it's too hot or too cold, etc.

I thought it was well worth it; I got to wake up at the same time as on test day, drive the same drive, through the same traffic. I got to go through the check-in process on site, see what the facility itself was like. It was very relaxing and made test day a lot less nerve-racking for me.
