These are the GPA's i often hear thrown around but i'm not sure which ones they look at. (Overall, Science, Science/Math, BCPM)

Also do they look at your total (4-year) GPA or just at the GPA you have at the time of application??

Medical schools have your entire transcript, and therefore look at everything. The whole sGPA/cGPA/BCPM, etc is a simplification born of the undesirability of posting one's entire course history on the interwebs.

If you apply after three years of college, they don't judge you by grades you had not yet earned at the time of application. If you apply after four years of college and a year of postbac classes are completed, they judge you by the composite GPAs you've earned both before and after graduation.

Overall GPA and BCPM GPA are most commonly looked at, but some schools have varient ways of weighting the years and type of GPA, as well as the MCAT score. Some calculate a GPA for prerequisites only, in addition to what AMCAS calculates for each school routinely. Most schools will also look at grade trends over succeeding school terms.
