Ok..so im looking at my GPA calculations on AACOMAS and it looks pretty weird.

My freshman year was screwed away (explained in ps) with a low gpa

Then it shoots up for sophmore, shoots even higher for junior, and ends with a 3.911 for senior year.

will the adcoms just look at my overall GPA or will they be able to see my gpa total for each year in college? (thereby observing the upward trend)

another question I have is about the science gpa. they have it broken down by bio/zoo ; physics ; inorganic chemistry; etc. etc.

isnt there supposed to be a science total that doesnt include the non-science classes? at the bottom of that column there is a total but it includes the non-science classes.

Thanks guys (and girls)

Everyone I've ever talked to says that an upward trend in your GPA shows maturation. I'm not sure how exactly the adcoms feel about it, but a few professors/advisors I've talked to have said that having the upward trend in grades may in fact look better than someone who stays at pretty much the same GPA (unless it's a consistent 4.0). Hopefully I haven't been lied to, because I'm in the same boat as you.

They do calculate overall Science GPA. If the format is still the same, you can see it in the section "GPA and Hours by year"

Most schools, for primaries will screen for the MINIMUM cumulative GPA, sci GPA, and MCAT...and some schools just send out secondaries to everyone.

In terms of secondaries, some schools will look at the sci GPA total and year by year. It also breaks it down with how many sci hours taken that year. Of course they will look at your cumulative GPA and that broken down year by year as well.

So to answer your question, they will see all of it. On what part the emphasis is put, who really knows except the adcom.
