Which major and minor(s)?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I really don't think it matters what you choose. Do what YOU like the most!!

Though, I'd choose Neuroscience... but I might be a little biased 😀

Hey guys,

So I have the credits for the following, but don't know what to declare.

Majors: Neuroscience vs. Biology (can only choose 1)
Minors: Chemistry vs. Psychology vs. Biology (can only choose 2)

Do any of these look better than the others?

Thanks

Chem > Psych

Chem < Psych

Fixed. It's a common mistake. Remember the alligator eats the bigger and better. 🙂
But seriously major/minor in whatever you prefer or find more interesting and the one you can do the best in. Also none of them will give you any sort of advantage over the other.

Hey again,

Sorry if I wasn't clear before, but I've already taken all the classes. Now it's just a matter of what actually goes on my transcript/degree.

Thanks for the replies so far!

oh... well that changes everything lol in that case Neuroscience sounds pretty sexy lol

I'd go for Neuroscience and then chem and psych 😀 But that's me. No one should make this choice for you!!

Well then. Neuro fer shuuure.

and chem and psych. bio people are everywhere.

yeah bio seems overdone.
I'd personally choose neuro and pysch

haha No mistake. I meant chem over psych, at least at my school psych is seen as easy and chem is a challenge.
I agree with whatever is your interest
though. Happy new year 🙂

If i were you, i would do Biology major with Chem/Psych minor. But if you like Neuroscience better, i would suggest a Bio/Psych minor.

My school doesn't let us double major in neuro and bio because they overlap so much. Hence why I have the credits for both haha.

Edit: OMG SarahBellum I just got your name. Maybe that's a sign I should major in biology.

Lol it's ok, no one likes the cerebellum in neuroscience. Frankly it looks like a wet piece of clay with white veins ( Arbours?) going through it. But yeah personally if my school offered a neuroscience major I would take it as it is very rare that schools offer one and personally I think neuroscience is an interesting field.
But the fact is that neuroscience is a concentration of biology/psychology. You'll be taking courses primarily on one specific area. So if you prefer focusing on one thing and sticking to it like me I'd recommend neuroscience.
If you enjoy learning about a wide variety of biology steming from botany to ecology to physiology. Then it might be better for you do biology as it allows an extremely wide range of things to study. If that sounds more interesting to you then maybe biology is indeed a better thing to study.

BTW Inb4 Thunderfoot sues for the bunny =D.

Neuro does sound nice. Although, I like chemistry also. Anyone can major in psychology. Set yourself apart. 😀

hey hey hey...if you didn't have a cerebellum you'd be pretty screwed! lol and purkinje cells are kinda cool. though i prefer the basal ganglia. i just couldn't come up with a pun for it... lol

My vote is a neuroscience major with a psych/chem minor. Could be a minor asset if your career ends up being anything CNS-related (neurology, psychiatry, neurosurg, PM&R). A biology minor will only be an asset insofar as having opposable thumbs is an asset; ok to be sure but doesn't exactly set you apart from anybody. Nice problem to have though.

I know its important I mean conscious skeletal muscle control is hyper important. But seriously you have to admit it looks like wet clay.

Although your major doesn't seem to matter to adcoms, I personally think that the Neuroscience major and the Psychology & Chemistry minors look the best. 😉
