So I just got my MCAT today, and although it's a little ways away, I was starting to get a list of which medical schools I should apply to.
Here are my stats:
IL resident
MCAT: 10 PS, 13 VR, 13 BS = 36
GPA: 4.0 (in Honors Program)
Researched for ~1 year
Work: Swim instructor/coach; tutor
EC:
Volunteered at hospital for 1.5 years
service fraternity (which means a lot of volunteering)
Leadership positions in Honors frat, OnIowa! program (freshman orientation), and a Student Leadership Consultant
Pre-medical club
Also in multiple honors organizations (NSCS, Golden Key, IDLS)
Side note: I am graduating this year (a year early for me), so I have all of next year off--which I have yet to decide what I'm doing--any suggestions are welcome!
Here's a list I came up with so far:
Stritch
Northwestern
Rosalind Franklin
Rush
U Chicago
U Illinois
Brown
Dartmouth
Harvard
GW
Georgetown
Johns Hopkins
I would like to apply to 15-20 schools, so any input is greatly appreciated!
I do also have family ties to NY if that would help me with any east coast schools?
