didactics? teaching? hands-on learning, actually doing injections? It seems like AE is the best for MSK and Sinai is the best for inpatient???? anyone have any advise or info????????

Thanks and Good Luck to everyone 😀

From my interview experience last year, cornell seemed to be the best. Very comprehensive training, strong applicants. Sinai and AE treated its residents like crap. I did a second look at Mount Sinai and the pgy2 was really miserable. AE has a great majority of foreign grads. Not St. george's but more like india and pakistan. I have no problem with FMG's, but with the recent increase in competiveness of PMR it seemed funny that most of the interviewees and residents at AE were foreign. So cornell-columbia is most likely the strongest.

Im not too sure I agree with that. I know several residents at all of the NY programs, and I think Sinai is probably the better of all of them. NYP definately sells themselves better than the rest. That being in part because Dr. Strauss is an extremely political and a pretty good sales woman. From speaking with some of the PGY-2 NYP residents, I know that the program is EXTREMELY political in terms of admissions (one of the attendings at cornell takes "VIP" patients that are quite unstable and unsuitable to be on a rehab unit) and it seems as though the inpatient experience (particularly at columbia, with one certain attending of note) is horrible. But, of course, these are not things you would readily hear on the interview trail. In contrast, from speaking with the some of the residents at Mt. Sinai, they seem to be enjoying their experience more, and some of the PGY-2s have commented on the high level of teaching they are getting. Besides, Mt. Sinai has produced pretty great leaders in the field...aka Dr. Kirshblum. I found AE to be the weakest program of the ones mentioned. Interestingly, when I interviewd there, several of the residents AND the attendings were foreign (if that has any impact on your decision). These are just my observations. Im sure each program has their relative strengths/weaknesses, so my advise is to go with your "gut feeling." You will likely not get a TRULLY 100 % ACCURATE view from any program you interview at. Remember, the interview process is a game more or less...
