appreciate your input but wouldn't choosing the pharmacy route land you in a similar position down the road? That is not being able to find a job in the worst case scenario or maybe not finding a position in a desired location. I guess, what i'm trying to get at, is which would be the bigger risk to take in order to obtain better results down the road?

thanks for replying but i how are you so certain that this will be the result? i know multiple people both, pharm D graduates and carib gradates that have gotten jobs and residencies respectively. would you mind providing some reasoning behind your statements?
Given that I never had any interest in medicine, I'd say U. S. pharm.

By his responses this guy clearly wants people to say Caribbean. The real question is why the Caribbean over other places?
One of my close friends went to SGU for a semester. There was no support system to speak of - sink or swim...and a disturbing number of people sink.
He lucked out and one of the U.S. Allo schools that wait listed him had a seat open up.

I don't know how you came to that conclusion but anyways, the reason why i mention the Caribbeans is due to the risk factor involved. Going to an MD/DO program doesn't involve nearly as much risk in terms of future employment, so IMO it just wouldn't be fair to include these programs.

Med school in Carib and then be a doctor on a cruise ship. Go from port to port, meet people, get in adventures.

US Pharm School by far. My friend graduated from a Caribbean MD school and has not matched for 3 years. Pharm doesn't require a match, but may require you to move for a job 😉.

there were alot of MDs from caribbean school in bakersfield... maybe your frd should apply there lol
There are physicians on staff at Duke that went to a Caribbean school. St. Georges in the Bahamas seems to be popular.
My friend went to the caribbean and could not find a residency for 2 years.. He had to do a non AGCME approved internship in Puerto Rico... was able to get a general practitioner (GP) license in a few US states after the internship...
First Job at a rural location: 180k/year... 20k relocation cost... 25k/year loan repayment... and has the opportunity to moonlight in small hospital for 2k/weekend.

Get another gig on the side in addition to one's primary gig.
Both are bad options. I would self-study CS and get a software engineering job.
