is this for ICOM? I don't know much about others but i spent some time in east Idaho. East Idaho regional medical center is a level 2 trauma center not sure if that matter much and they have an IM residency program and working on an ER one. They saw some really interesting cases with Yellowstone so close they get a lot of life flights. Not sure that's what you were looking for but my 2 cents.

You'd be more depressed sitting in on our "informational meetings" where we hear "yeah we know that's a concern for that site and we will explore it together.." from the deans haha

"Look, we're aware that's a huge problem. But we've done nothing about it and don't worry we'll totally blame you everything that goes wrong."

I especially love the "explore it together" part lol. As if the dude is ever going to visit any of the rotation sites in person.

If you want to stay in ID, Magic Valley's gonna be your best bet.
Otherwise, Stony Brook for better clinical.

I don't know why everyone is saying New York.... I can guarantee that site is the left over scraps from the 50 other schools that rotate in NY and is most likely malignant AF. Probably isn't even associated with any residency programs either.

All of these sights are likely terrible because I'm not seeing any place with significant GME. Just pick the place you want to live the most and go for it.

Simple.

The one where you rotate the most in actual hospitals with a residency team and actual residents that you are paired with.

Preferably with actual legit residency programs affiliated with the program.

Choose the outpatient stuff for chill months and to shadow if you really are burnt out.

Very interesting that ICOM rotates at Southampton Hospital, so random... yeah it’s Stony Brook’s Hospital now, which is great, but it’s a small community hospital that is NYCOM’s core site for family med, internal med, surgery. It’s also not in Stony Brook, Long Island btw, it’s in Southampton, Long Island, which is much farther out east (but very pretty!) Stony Brook Medical Center is totally rebuilding the hospital though and it’s network of docs in the Eastern part of L.I., so that’s really exciting.

Edit: So after doing some digging, I don’t see any ICOM student rotating there.
Maybe it’s at an affiliated clinic? And not at the hospital?

ICOM started last year so the first students to rotate for 3rd year will be next year
