which school wins for rudest rejections

lol, of course you're sensing bad vibes cuz you're probably not gonna get in.

Considering that Stanford rejects 96.6% of all applicants, I don't like his chances either.

Utah is pretty full of themselves. For me they have been the least friendly.

i got 2 rejections, but i cant find either of them... i was so pissed when i got one, that i just threw it in the trash... cant find the gtown one.

Neither Georgetown nor NWern have particularly "rude" rejection letters...I think what we're pissed about is the attitude these schools have. Examples: NWern asking you to write an essay praising their curriculum. Georgetown sending rejection letters the day of cashing your check.

No, it was definitely the attitude of the Georgetown rejection letter. After interviewing and hearing all this nonsense about how it was so important that we give Gtown the serious and personal consideration that the adcom had given each of our applications... damn, getting that completely impersonal rejection letter was like a slap in the face. "ha ha, just kidding about the personal attention."

I agree with whomever said that UCSF had a great rejection letter. It really cheered me up after the Gtown letter!

if i remember correctly, Boston had a really nice rejection letter. they kept repeating something like "it is a loss to BU that we have to turn you away."

As person who is well-acquainted with mediocrity/rejection, I must say I prefer the harsh truth to condescending mockery like that. Especially for 100 bucks. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough!

My personal favorite is NYU, who didn't bother to waste a stamp or a letterheaded piece of paper. They sent me a 3-line email, without even a generic greeting of "Dear Applicant". Just simply:

We received your application to NYU School of Medicine from AMCAS. At this time, we are not requesting you submit a secondary application. If this situation should change in the future, you will be notified.

They sent me this email in early September, before my MCAT scores even came out (first-time August MCAT-er). Most of the other schools at least sent me a letter telling me they'd wait for my scores before considering me.

Translation: You are such a shoddy applicant that nothing you could possibly get on the MCAT's will redeem your application in our eyes.

I suppose the email leaves room for interpretation since it technically did not say that it's rejecting me. But considering that it's November and I haven't heard jack from them, I'm tossing them off my list.

look on the bright side. at least you didn't have to pay their application fee to get that news--unlike michigan state who sends out a similar email to out of staters immediately AFTER you send in the secondary fee. (they ask for the seconday fee to screen your AMCAS app. then cash your check and refuse to even give you the seconday!)
