Has the highest percentage of students going into specialties?? Does this say anything about that particular school or is it more self selection?

Google match list for the schools and see what you come up with. Off hand, KCUMB and RVU come to mind.

@Goro : do those schoools have the highest # of students going into specialties because they are best prepped for boards by the school or because the schools have connections?

I've made this point before, but to reiterate, be careful when you see a lot of internal medicine matches. Sure, some of these people will become hospitalist or do out patient primary care, but for those that go on to sub specialize and eventually become interventional cardiologists or go into GI and further sub-specialize in advanced therapeutic endoscopy, on their match list, it will simply show as an internal medicine match.

On the topic of internal medicine, look to see where these matches take place. There's a decent chance that people matching into IM at big university programs may end up sub-specializing.

Yes.

Medical schools serves as feeder schools to residency programs in the same way that UG schools serve as feeders to medical schools.

This is a very poor standard to have because most schools actively seek applicants wanting to go into primary care. You might want to ask what schools get the best COMLEX scores.

What if the question were about schools that match into competitive programs in primary care specialties such as internal medicine or pediatrics. Would the question still apply?
