I have heard conflicting stats about safety schools. For example, that Tufts is easy to get into, and also that Tufts is very competitive. I also heard that one of the Arizona schools is easier to get into. I'm curious to hear which schools my fellow SDNers picked as safeties?

Unless you have a 3.7+ GPA, 25+ DAT, thousands of hours in shadowing, research, and extracurriculars, there is no such thing as a safety dental school. Now aside from that, you have a "higher" chance of getting into Tufts and NYU because they have higher # of seats to fill. That does not necessarily mean that these schools are easier. In fact, schools with more seating tend to be harder than the schools with less seating.

USC, BU, NYU, etc. you see the trend? All ripoff schools are easier to get into than other schools. If you have the average grades and DAT scores to get in, then I would consider these schools as safety schools. Also, look into these schools and make sure you want to go there...BU has a pretty crappy rep from alumni, which you can search on sdn

Any school that has the lowest possible matriculation stats is considered a "safety school."

USC, NYU, Meharry, Howard etc.

They tend to be private, they tend to be expensive, they tend to be big, and they tend to cater to URM.

Neither AZ schools are really easy (I agree that no school is easy). ASDOH especially. Fools apply just looking a low average entry stats. That doesn't work. MWU is pretty selective too. They seem to be a backup school for a lot of people. No one leaves disappointed, but they opt for cheaper tuition of they have the option.

I don't think I'd put Howard or Meharry in there if you aren't a URM. From what I hear, their non-URM acceptees tend to have pretty good stats.
