Look at the stickied post by Dr. Midlife of SMPs at the top of the post-bacc section of SDN (this forum).

If you wish further information from members, please post background information including your MCAT, sGPA, cGPA, and any other significant application related stats.

my Gpa is 3.47, im senior , and last semester i got 4.0 and im hoping to do well for the comig fall. I have a low Gpa due to the fact that i spent all my freshman yr partying and did absolutley everything except studying, and i i got 3.1 and 2.9 for that yr. my mcat score is 32 but im retaking the mcat this aug, so now im kinda confused , dont know which program is right for me

A 3.47 is not that bad, plus if you keep that 4.0 through your senior year, you'll have a very nice upward trend.

Your MCAT is solid, but only retake it if you absolutely know you will score higher.

Overall, I think many will agree with me that you do not need an SMP. However, it's still a good idea to increase your GPA as much as possible. You can consider staying a 5th year and adding a minor to raise your GPA, or do a post-bacc year and take upper science electives. If your senior year grades are really good, you'd be fine by applying early in 2011.

If I understand you correctly in that your cGPA is a 3.47 then what is your sGPA?

MCAT: 32

If your sGPA is also above a 3.4, I would do some rough calculations on how much you can raise your cGPA and sGPA by taking a year's worth of classes. I do not feel that an SMP would have a very high efficacy for the money as opposed to a cheaper alternative which would be doing an informal post-bacc at a local 4 year university if your unit count is relatively low.

Your MCAT is also not a problem in my eyes but again, other people in this forum can offer advice.
