Which subscription for UW @ beginning of 3rd year?

What are people getting for UW if you plan on using it to study for Shelf exams?

I plan on getting the 1 year subscription since I plan on using it for all of my clerkships. Unfortunately, the 1 year sub won't get me through Step 2... so I'll certainly be renewing for at least 1 month or two.

Anyone have any other worthwhile strategies for buying UW subscription with the goal to minimize cost and maximize utilization?

I can't speak for others, but one thing to be aware with UWorld is that unlike some other services, you can only renew a subscription that hasn't yet expired. If you let your subscription expire, the option to renew is gone and you start anew.

well, you can buy a year of USMLEWorld and skip the books or just borrow books from the library to save cash. it'll be the same at the end. i did not buy USMLEWorld for half the year and guess what, I sucked at half of my shelfs, and in the half that I had USMLEWorld, I ended up with 99, 100, 100 (curbed shelf grade but still 90~% national percentile). dont do the mistake i did, invest in your grade!

Just like the steps, UWorld is the single best resource for every shelf except for surgery.

how do you guys feel about world vs mksap for im? I'm also just confused about how to really use world for shelfs because it seems like no one at my sites is using world as a resource and i've only heard about it through sdn.. can you section world into questions for particular sections like with Step Up or is it just all mixed together? Are people using this on top of MKSAP?
