Hi all,

I am a third time applicant and I only applied to 5 dental schools in CA in the past year (UCLA,LLU,UOP,UCSF,USC). I took DAT twice and the following are the scores:

1st BIO 20 GC 20 OC 19 QC 22 RC 17 PAT 22
2nd BIO 18 GC 21 OC 21 QC 21 RC 22 PAT 19

I studied in 2 yrs community college and then transferred to UCLA for Biology major, and just graduated this spring.

The question I wanna ask is:

What universities are easier to get in compare with the CA schools? I believe I can apply up to 15, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the input!

Hey Paulee,

Those are good scores. Your 1st attempt was better than your 2nd, what happened? I don't know if that will hurt you or if the school just see a combined score. But here's some schools that you might want to consider:

UOP
UNLV
Arizona
Indiana
Boston U
Tufts
Minnesota
Michigan
Western U (in 2009-or 10?)

Also if you can don't limit yourself to 15 unless that's the max AADSAS can let you.

good luck

thx for the comment.
I spent 2 months in summer for the first time during my sophomore year, and only 1 week for the 2nd time (one week before school finals...), so you may tell the difference.

isnt that UOP require all DAT section above 20? that's why I didn't want to apply for it this year....😱

Hi all SDNers

I have already filled out the whole application but still deciding which universities should I apply to. Can you guys give me more input please?

Thanks!

I think CA schools are difficult to get into because they generally have high average GPA and DAT scores, so you must apply to schools outside of CA to increase your chances. I'd say add some private schools since they accept more out-of-staters than public schools. I suggest you to add NYU, Temple, Case, Tufts, and BU

I would also consider nova and maryland. nova is private. maryland is a state school but accepts like 60 out of staters and have the best facilities of any school.
