Hi guys!
I know for this upcoming cycle, UF does not require the GRE for you to apply for now on, but I was wondering what other vet schools don't need this exam. Also, for UF we need 80% of the pre-req to apply. Does that apply to most vet schools?
Thanks!

Here’s a good list to check out. And regarding pre-reqs, I know there are definitely some other than UF that require a certain percentage prior to applying, but most people in the course of getting their degree should have completed at least 75% of their pre-reqs by senior year. Bio, chem, orgo, physics, calc, and most other 300 level courses and under are usually done junior year and earlier. That mainly leaves biochem, maybe statistics, and maybe another course for senior year. But that’s beside the point. I mainly just wanted to post this link.

The amount of pre-reqs you have to have finished varies from school to school; some will allow 2 courses to be finished during the year after you apply, some say it can't be more than X amount of math/science, etc. I would check each school you're applying to and see what their specific requirements are. They usually require them all to be finished by spring semester as well.

Out of the six I applied to this past cycle, only Mississippi State and VMCVM didn't require the GRE. Definitely check the school sites to be 100% certain🙂

As of this past cycle, Midwestern no longer requires the GRE!

Ohio State did not require the GRE this past cycle. I would always double check which schools you're interested in because they can change their admission requirements or processes with new cycles 🙂

I want to say, look at the list I provided and then cross check it with the school’s website. VMCAS will also tell you a lot of this stuff once it opens and you can see the school profiles. As it says in the list, it’s all subject to change. However, it’s unlikely that schools that don’t require it will start requiring it. It’s usually the other way around. So if the list says a school requires it but you’re still interested, check their site once VMCAS opens to see if maybe they don’t require it anymore.

Ehhhh still best to check with the individual school regardless. It could change in the future. If they decide they don’t like the class they’re accepting without requiring it after a year or two, it’s entirely possible they could go back to their old ways to hope for classes similar to previous ones before the stopped requiring it *shrug*

Yea it could definitely happen. Absolutely double check everything with the school. But schools as a whole seem to be starting to move away from standardized tests and are going the more holistic route.
