Ok, I need some insightful advice here because this is not something anyone has been able to help me with personally.

So I have this dilemma: After working at a job part-time last semester and taking classes, my boss would like me to be full-time again. This job is important in terms of my medical related experience and potential LOR's.

I had this all figured out (was gonna take classes at night) until I saw the schedule for the Fall at the school I am taking classes and the classes I need are during the day. This job is not the kind you can skip out on for 3 hours a day and come back to, so I wouldn't be able to work at all those days. Now, I was thinking of going to take the classes at another school but that would defeat the purpose of getting a committee letter from the school I attend now.

So now....what would you do?

A.) Talk to the boss about staying part time even if it entails disappointment on their part and even if you told them you could work full time when they needed you.
B.) Stay full time and take the classes at a different school, abandoning the idea of the committee letter
C.) Look for another medical/research job that corresponds with your schedule and your priorities, hence sticking with the committee letter and abandoning the LOR from an MD where you work plus a decent salary

Thank you!

Where do you live? Can you take night courses elsewhere?

I'm in NY so technically I can, but then I'd have to do the whole ask each professor for a personal LOR deal and I don't know my professors on that level, so if they fill out an evaluation the pre-med committee basically just writes a letter.

Ha, unless I find time to schmooze with the profs, which is gonna be hard with a job...

can you get lor from your boss now? i am going to get the lor and then quit.
