Hi,

I am planning to apply the next cycle. I was wondering how did you pick out which professors?

I was thinking asking my research professor who I worked with for a year, and actually get to know him.

Another one is from a 3 hour lab, where it consists of 20 students. So the professor knows who you are and what not.

Are these good candidates? Or should I try get to know one other professor next semester, and do well in their course. Thanks !

i used 4:

chem teacher
A&P teacher
Ast Dir of Athletics [i was an athlete]
dentist

I def believe they were strong assets to my application.

Just make sure you know what the requirements for each of your schools is. Several of mine specifically wanted a biology prof and a chemistry prof. Most schools will want a dentist.

I ended up with:
O chem prof
General bio prof
English prof (knew me well)
Dentist

Dentist I volunteered with a lot and knows me well.
Physics professor.
Psychology professor.
Mission trip coordinator.

Pretty much know your dental school's requirements for lor's.

Genetics prof who knew my personality/chill side extremely well, we hung out a lot
Biochem prof who knew my research/academic side
Latin prof who was involved in my community service events
My boss who had been following my progress as a team leader for about 2 years
Dentist that I shadowed for 6 months

i thought aadsas only accepted 4 😕

some schools want 3 science professors (columbia, NYU, Buffalo, etc) so best to get an universal one which is 3 sci prof

Biology Professor
Organic Chemistry Professor
Research Supervisor
Dentist

1.analytic + physical chem professor
2.organic chem + organic synthesis professor
3. physicalbio chem professor who is also my PI
4. Dentist

I had a:

my research professor

ecology professor I took 3 classes with (I got As & Bs in his classes & He will write a good letter for anyone that asks)

science professor that taught an ornithology class (study of birds)

dentist I interned with for 2 years

Lack of chemistry letter prevented me from applying to 2-3 schools max. I never really clicked with my chem professor so I went the safer route and still got a few interviews.

I had 3:
Genetics professor who I TAed for two semesters and am TAing again for next semester (very close with)
Honors writing professor, took two classes from him, one freshman year and one junior year (almost as close relationship)
Cell biology professor who is now biology advisor

I only applied to 3 schools, and all didn't need a dentist. I had a dentist who would have written one if needed, though.
Based off relationships, I think my first two letters were very strong.

I had the head of the chemistry department at my university, with whom I was on very good terms.

I also had a biology professor with whom I took several courses (with like 10 people in each course).

And I had my old boss write one (I worked as a dental assistant).

Orgo professor
Orgo lab professor (3 hour lab) - good idea since it was a small class size and she knew me. most caring professor I've met
Bio professor
Dentist - employer

All in one committee letter!

President of my University, I was on several committees with her and know her very well
Bio professor, took 4 classes with him, was also my advisor
Dentist
Physician, on the faculty at Iowa who I observed

Chair of Biology Department (Had cell bio with him)
Chair of Chemistry Department (Orgo)
Biochemistry Professor
Dean of the Honors College
Dental Anatomy Professor

+1 from a dentist I shadowed. (Faculty at NYU)

2 Ph.D science professors.
1 General Dentist
1 statistics professor
