T minus 2 days, folks...
Good luck to all the 2010 applicants!
Good luck to all the 2010 applicants!
so, if we dont get the rejection email by like 6pm pacific time today, then we are okay?
You know, I'm also curious about various time zones and notification regarding the match.
This whole process is TWEAKFEST 2010! I have spoke to the SF Match peeps, and they said that everyone who doesn't match, will get an email from SF. That fateful email which I call the Grim Peeper, has an unknown, unofficial time of delivery according to both my home medical school curriculum office, and according to the SF. Last year it is rumored to have been recieved across the country at different times in the late afternoon, early evening with no rhyme or reason. Confounding these matters further, is the fact that last year, contrary to their normally scheduled protocol, ALL applicants recieved a modified Grim Peeper essentially giving a Yes/No. Talk about a mind ****! The only semblance of stability amongst this whole process is that at a bare minimum, the Program Coordinator of each ophtho program will get in contact with their residents by thurs am between 8am-3pm. So in the end, the only predictable aspect of the is process is the wholly unpredictablness of it. Gear up for a KRAZY Day/Night. I'll be hanging with my friend Pam Loraza.
any email yet?
so if I didnt get an email that means I didnt match?
Email from home school. Chair call mid morning.
Anyone else happy to have matched but slightly disappointed? I matched at my #7 choice...really didn't think that would happen.
4dude, you wanna know what a real disappointment is? Not matching for the second straight year despite doubling your interview number from the previous year 😡😡😡😡😡 As an amg, 99 on board scores, a year research fellowship in ophtho and 2 first author publications. What does someone have to do to get noticed as a great, future physician who loves ophthalmology?
The point is, if you don't like your #7, do one of 2 things - give it to me, or spend some time realizing you're one of the luckiest people in the world today and just enjoy it.
Let me say first that I am ecstatic to have matched. I am sure I will love where I am going to, actually I am pretty sure I will. But I just wasn't expecting it. I guess this year was pretty competitive.
Same rationalization I hear every year. "This year was extra difficult, etc."
Stop complaining and then qualifying it saying that you appreciate where you're going but are disappointed. It's just rude to those that didnt match.
I am sure there a lot of people like me out there. You can't tell me everyone is ecstatic just because they matched somewhere. I don't mean any disrespect to those that didn't match, I personally know how that feels.
Not everyone is overjoyed by their match. I share your feelings hinduluv and am feeling kinda cheated by the match. I understand that there are people who would kill for this spot, but just the act of submitting a rank list sets up expectations, especially when your school and others say almost everyone matches in their top 3. And regardless, not meeting expectations is disappointing. BTW this is a forum where everyone can discuss their thoughts, happy or sad.
